The History & Return of the Lotto Millionaire Raffle

The Original Format (2015–2018): First launched in October 2015, the Lotto Millionaire Raffle replaced the original Lotto Raffle, delivering a guaranteed £1,000,000 prize in every regular draw. In 2018, the game was discontinued to allow the main Lotto game to focus on larger, rolling jackpots.

The Grand Return in 2026: As part of Allwyn’s modernisations to position Lotto as the UK's ultimate "Millionaire Maker," the raffle is back. As of 7th June, 2026, the main UK Lotto has been revamped, adopting a new dual-draw format - slashing the overall odds of winning any prize from 1 in 9.3 down to 1 in 4.9 - and bringing the Lotto Millionaire Raffle back into active service for its new special-event based schedule.

How the Lotto Millionaire Raffle Works

Entry into the raffle is fully integrated into your standard lottery purchase, making participation seamless.

Automatic Entry: You are automatically entered into the Lotto Raffle at no extra cost if one is taking place on your selected draw day(s).

One Code Per Line: You receive one raffle code for each line of Lotto numbers played. The code consists of four letters and eight numbers.

Guaranteed £1M Prizes: The National Lottery advertises how many millionaires are to be made before each special Lotto Raffle draw. When the raffle takes place, the National Lottery selects this number of codes at random.

How to Win: If all the letters and numbers of your code match up to one of the drawn codes, you win £1 million. All the characters must match in the exact order.
